Merino Wool Cradle Blanket and Swaddle Blanket
Softer than soft — that’s merino wool. It’s perfectly suited as a cradle blanket but also ideal as a swaddle blanket worn directly against the skin. Merino wool is therefore perfect for the tiniest ones!
Merino Wool Cradle Blanket
A merino wool cradle blanket feels very thin and soft. However, a merino wool blanket is no less warm than any other wool blanket. Merino wool has temperature-regulating properties: it keeps your little one warm when it's cold and releases heat when it’s warm. That makes it a very safe choice too!
Merino Wool Swaddle Blanket
Since merino wool is one of the softest types of wool, it’s exceptionally suitable as a swaddle blanket. It feels super soft directly on the skin. These lovely blankets are perfect for keeping your baby at a comfortable temperature while swaddled.
Natural Materials & Certification
Natural materials are wonderful for your baby — especially wool. Woolen blankets are a must-have for newborns and are just as cozy for older children and even adults. We believe it’s important that the wool is certified: ethically sourced, of high quality, and produced without the use of chemicals. The wool still contains its natural lanolin, which helps it retain its beneficial properties.
TOG Value of Merino Wool
Wool works differently than other materials. It acts as an insulating layer: releasing heat when your baby is warm and retaining warmth when they’re cold. Of course, blankets vary in thickness, but wool is suitable for every season! When it’s cold, layering with wool is the most effective approach.
Washing Merino Wool
Merino wool is self-cleaning. Simply airing it out in moist air — such as morning dew or even a light layer of snow in winter — naturally refreshes the wool. However, if the blanket does get dirty, it can be washed. Use a 30°C (86°F) wool wash program with a wool detergent. The wool wash cycle typically spins gently and maintains a low temperature, helping the blanket stay beautiful. A great tip is to use the Pure Wool Love wool detergent — available to order with your blanket — which contains lanolin to help preserve the wool's quality. Try to avoid washing the blanket too often.
