A stretchy baby wrap, a woven baby wrap, a ring sling or a baby carrier?

First of all you must decide how you wish to carry your baby. Do you prefer a stretchy baby wrap, sling, a woven baby wrap, a ring sling or a baby carrier?

Before you make a decision you must first know the differences and possibilities of all options. Below you will find extensive information.

Woven baby wrap

A woven baby wrap is suitable for newborn babies (day one) and toddlers. So, it can be used for a very long time.  A woven baby wrap is strong and allows you to carry older kids, without feeling uncomfortable. There are numerous tying methods. You can carry your little one on either belly, hip or back. In our tying instructions we use a knot on your belly, which is suitable from day one. Tying a baby wrap is easy to learn. It feels extremely comfortable and pleasant to carry your baby in a baby wrap. After all, the weight is divided. In general, a woven baby wrap is more airy than a stretchy baby wrap, as it only consists of 1 layer of fabric. A woven baby wrap is recommended for premature / dysmature babies, as it offers great support. A woven baby wrap is a durable choice, due to its long life length.

Stretchy baby wrap

A stretchy baby wrap is used from day one to approx. 8-9 months. It allows you to carry your baby on your belly. As your baby gets heavier and heavier, it will become uncomfortable to carry it in a stretchy baby wrap after 8-9 months. From that moment on many parents start using a woven baby wrap, consisting of 3 layers of fabric, so relatively warm in summer. Stretchy baby wraps are available in various thicknesses. We currently don’t sell stretchy baby wraps (yet).

Ring sling

A ring sling is a short baby wrap with rings at one end. You carry your baby on your belly or hip. The weight is divided over your back and one shoulder. You can use it as long as you like. The ring sling is often used for short wearing moments, for example if you want to console your baby, in the supermarket etc.

Baby carrier

A baby carrier has a button and/or click system. There are baby carriers for babies and baby carriers for toddlers. If you decide to use a baby carrier, we strongly recommend you to try it before you buy it. After all, not everyone likes the same baby carrier. You can try one in a specialist shop or with a babywearing consultant. A baby carrier differs from a baby wrap. The weight is less divided, it “hangs” on one point on your shoulders and hip. A baby carrier is a perfect alternative if you are reluctant to tie a baby wrap.

We offer the most common baby wraps.

Size 4 (3.70m) is usually used by an experienced carrier for hip- or back carry. Size 4 is not suitable for carrying a newborn baby.

Size 5 allows most ties for ladies with sizes up to 36. If you have a larger size you can use this wrap to carry your baby on your hip or back.

Sizes 6 and 7 are the most common sizes. They allow all kinds of ties. Size 6 (4.60m) allows all ties for ladies with sizes up to 44 and for men with sizes up to 50. For larger sizes (ladies up to 52) we recommend baby wrap size 7 (5.20m)
Size 8 (6.00 m) is used during the pregnancy or for people who like to use more fabric.

The premature baby wrap is narrower than a common baby wrap. This makes it perfect for this special group.
If multiple people are going to carry the baby wrap, for example mom and dad, we recommend to choose the size that fits the largest person.
